Southern Star responding to line break in Smith County, Kansas

Smith County, Kansas – At approximately 4:15 p.m. today, Southern Star received reports of a natural gas line break resulting from a third-party equipment strike at a property located on US-36, approximately one mile west of US-281.

Safety is our top focus, and our team has activated a response plan for the event. No injuries have been reported.

Our personnel are well-trained and are working closely with local law enforcement and emergency responders as we evaluate and respond to this event.

Temporary interruptions to gas service may be experienced in the area.

At this time, law enforcement officials have closed sections of US-36 and Road AA. Please follow guidelines from local officials if you are traveling near this area.
