Southern Star moves towards net zero energy consumption at corporate headquarters

Owensboro, KY – Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline, Inc. (Southern Star) is excited to announce renewable energy plans impacting its corporate headquarters.

This summer, a solar array will be installed at the corporate headquarters facility located at 4700 State Route 56 in Owensboro, KY. The array will generate enough electricity to offset the facility’s annual power demand. This addition will make Southern Star’s headquarters the first known net zero carbon-based energy facility of its size in Owensboro. This office provides workspace to approximately 200 people.

“Southern Star is committed to reducing its carbon footprint in all communities we serve. We are proud to mark the beginning of this journey in Owensboro,” said President & CEO Jimmy Staton.

Construction for the approximately 1200 mega-watt system is expected to begin this summer, with a completion date targeted for October 31, 2021. It will be located east of the headquarters property in an adjacent field occupying approximately four acres. This project is truly a testament of Southern Star’s vision: One community working together to be the leading provider of clean, safe and reliable energy for tomorrow.

As seen in this picture, the solar panels will be located east of its corporate
headquarters.
